I will be making all posts, except "pimp" posts friends only. Feel free to comment to be added! I'm pretty lenient on who I friend, I just like to know who you are and how you found my little corner of the internet.
So I have been reading the following blog for a few months now, and it generally always leaves a smile on my face, and touches my heart. The other day the blog's author did a sort of welcome post for new visitors, so I figured it was a great time to link to the blog for new people to check it out. It's a great story about a single father raising his daughter after his wife passed away the day after giving birth. The story is such an amazing sotry in ways that I just can't describe.
Anyway here's the link: here
and bring your tissues. You'll need them. (Seriously I'm tearing up thinking about it)

Submission applications for Fanart/craft gallery and other programming
Yup! That link is where you can submit presentations, tutorials, or
your wonderful talented work for the FA\crafts room.
However, submissions close at the end of the month so please make sure
you get your ideas for exhibits submitted before the deadline! The
work itself does not have to be completed till the conference but we need
to know you wish to provide an exhibit!
You know you want to! :)
Anything you could do to get the word out would be much appreciated as
well
Happy creating!
Feel free to e-mail myself kimmy@the-leaky-cauldron.org or informalproposals@leakycon.com if you have any questions!

So I have like an 8 way tie going on in this week's icontest so I'm shamelessly asking for votes. PLEASE!
So I know this chick who rocks my world. Why does she rock my world? Well not only is she made of win, but she writes these truly fantastic books called The Quest Books. What are the Quest Books? The Quest Books are a series of books dealing with "The Land" (a parallel dimension) and the fight between good and evil that is going on there. Each book tells the story of the Protectors of The Land, people who are from the Earth Dimension and are helping The Land fight it's battle. (Is that pretty accurate Lisa? I'm crap at summaries)
I picked up the first book on my way to Terminus, and didn't put it down until it was finished. I even sat in the baggage claim area for a bit to finish reading! I read the second book on the way home from Chicago, and then proceeded to finish the other four books in the week after I got home. I'm now eagerly awaiting the arrival of the sixth book (Wizard Quest).
So why am I telling this to you? Well with Harry Potter series completed, and Twilight over (thankfully) you may be looking for a new series to start. If that's the case (or even if it isn't) I think you should all check out the Quest website and check out the books a bit, and see if they are something you are interested in. Don't feel like you have to order all 7 at once! I ordered the first two books, and checked them out, and once I found that I liked them I went on to order the rest of them.
What are you waiting for! Go check the site out! (Unless of course this is Lisa reading this post, in which case get started on your next book!!!!!)

So I just de-friended a few people because either 1)They have never posted in their journal or 2)Haven't used their journal for over a year.
Let me know if you were de-friended but still use LJ, I'll add you back again!

I posted up a new blog over at Leaky. This one is exciting because it talks about FanArt! This time I talk about some of my favorite Ginny FanArtists (
seviet,
buttfacemakani, and
reallycorking) and why I love their work so much.
Check it out!
Do you have a topic image/video/fanart related that I should talk about? If so let me know in the comments!

So just because I'm curious.... The poll answers are screened so don't feel like your answer is binding. I'm just trying to put feelers out there right now for numbers and such. Feel free to comment if you don't have a answer that easily fits into a radio button category, or if you want to elaborate on your answer.

Thanks!!! I just want to make the Fan Art and Crafting programming awesome because I really love the work those guys do. While the art itself at Terminus was AMAZING I want to make sure that the stuff at LeakyCon is freaking fabulous and EVERYONE wants to see it.

Of course I finished it about 5 seconds before the news of the movie push back was posted, so I am a bit behind here... but I didn't' want to scrap it since I've had the post rolling around in my head for a while now (I actually started it the Friday of the week of the trailer)
I do have another post ready to go up soon also.. Yeah!!!
I may do a fan art post next... I love me some fan art.

Well it's official. The blogs over at Leaky are announced! We have a great selection of blogs over there. My blog is going to discuss images and videos and such throughout the fandom. I figured since I'm so often surrounded by them, it would be a good idea to talk about them! My first blog is about the teaser poster, or lack there of.
There are a ton of great blogs such as Jamie's blog about Fan Art. MJ's blog is about LeakyCon, a topic I'm VERY excited about. There are a ton of great blogs here so go check them out!
DO IT!
P.S. less than 5 days until Live PotterCast in Boston! Who else is going?!?!?!

After the successful launch of the Fan Art Galleries Icontest, the Image Gallery Icontest is now up and running! This week we celebrate the fact that there is only one year until Leaky's first Conference, LeakyCon, in Boston MA, by having a LeakyCon Icontest. Submissions are open until Sunday June 1st by 11:59 PM EST. At that time voting will go up, and our next Fan Art Galleries Contest will open up!

More on the icontest:
Our Leaky Contest Crew has teamed up with our Gallery staffers to form a new contest set to be launched on May 12th. Taking place in our Image and Fan Art Galleries, the IContest will have you creating icons based on some of the fan art images as well as other images from our galleries in future weeks. Starting May 12th, we will ask you to create an icon based from one of the many drawings created by Fan Artist Glockgal. You have until May 19th to submit your icon, at which time voting on those submissions will begin. The following week, on May 26th, the second round of our continuing contest will commence with the newest images in our Image Galleries being your inspiration for that week. Should I arrive in Chicago for Dawlish on
Well I can now officially pimp, as I have a link!
gallerycast again let me on, and this time I interviewed the wonderful
glockgal about something that I think does not get enough attention, Fan Art Etiquette. People are using other's work and claiming it as their own, using work without permission, and all sorts of things which are just not cool. I think that Fan Artists deserve a TON of credit, and I figured perhaps one thing we can do to get them the credit they deserve is to get the word out a little bit about proper Fan Art Etiquette. Enter
gallerycast and
glockgal. On the latest Gallerycast, which you can download here
glockgal and I discuss this very subject. While we don't cover everything, and this is only one Fan Artists take on how they want their fan art to be used, I hope that it is something that can help lead to a better awareness of this sort of thing in the fandom.
Well go listen! I hope you guys enjoy. Let me know if you have any comments/questions/suggestions for interviews!
A big thank you to
glockgal not only for doing this interview, but for being wonderful! I had a fabulous time recording, and talking to you! (I've never been so off topic in an interview before! It was a blast)
Well go listen! I hope you guys enjoy. Let me know if you have any comments/questions/suggestions for interviews!

ONE DAY CONTENT STRIKE For one day, Friday, March 21, make no posts. Make no comments. Let there be NO new content added to LJ. SUP obviously does not realize that Basic users have given something of value to them, that it is content that drives the site. So, for one 24-hour period, from midnight GMT to midnight GMT, let's see how many people we can get to pledge to contribute NO CONTENT. This will create a permanent downward spike in the daily-posts statistics, a permanent reminder of the power of the userbase. Full information at The Fox's Den. SPREAD THE WORD!
I think this is a fabulous idea and I will not be posting. Please pass along! The more people who pass this along, the more successful it is!
